Several survivors from Canadian residential schools share their experiences of abuse, and how this has affected their children and grandchildren. One of the survivors ended up sending her children to residential school. Video clips are also shown of children in at school. Another survivor describes residential schools as “a blot on the Canadian landscape”for three reasons: 1) we became strangers in our home and native land 2) nurturing relationships between parents and children were severed, and 3) It added mental stress to students in a very real way. Another survivor describes trying to run away from the school with another student, only to be caught and punished. These residential schools continued to negatively impact Indigenous communities over time.
