The National Native American Boarding School Healing Coalition (NABS) is pleased to announce a call for nominations for new Board Members. We are also accepting self-nominations. Nominations were due by August 15, 2018. Download the nomination form.
The Mission of NABS is to lead in the pursuit of understanding and addressing the ongoing trauma created by the US Indian Boarding School policy.
Our programmatic activities are focused on creating Education, Advocacy, and Healing.
We are interested in the following types of candidates who are willing to share their experience and talents to help advance the mission of the Boarding School Healing Coalition:
- Boarding School Survivors
- Expert in non-profit accounting and finance
- Fluent in their native language
We are also interested in receiving nominations for candidates with a commitment to Native American communities and boarding school healing.
Board members are expected to fully participate in quarterly board meetings, annual retreat, working committees and are required to participate in NABS’ annual membership meeting.
The deadline for submission was Wednesday, August 15, 2018.
Please note: 1) only Regular Members of the Coalition are eligible to serve on the board or vote in the board election; and 2) board candidates must be, or must become, a Regular Member prior to joining the board. Learn more about membership.
Once nominated, the candidate will be contacted to fill out a full board application. NABS’ Board of Directors has appointed a Committee who will consider the nominations and develop a slate of candidates to stand for election as directors of NABS’ board. Election will take place by the Regular Members at the Annual Membership Meeting on October 1st.
